Brain boosting Gingko biloba!

I absolutely LOVE herbs!  What amazes me is the fact that each plant has the capability to affect the body and produce some form of healing or change.  For instance Gingko biloba – beautiful, huge trees with green fan-like leaves that have an affinity for the brain and nervous system.

This amazing herb can reduce brain or spinal cord damage due to lack of oxygen, convulsion, stroke or other trauma, help with concentration, mental confusion, forgetfulness, depression and anxiety.

Other specific indications for this herb include:

  • headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, fatigue and acute cochlear deafness due to restricted cerebral blood flow
  • early stages of Alzheimers disease
  • dementia
  • vertigo
  • sudden hearing loss where there is no known cause
  • macular degeneration & glaucoma
  • the effects of high altitude
  • asthma
  • poor leg circulation
  • PMS & painful menstruation

Gingko biloba enhances memory and cognitive functions, such as processing speed and abstract reasoning, especially in older adults!  Definitely a great herb to be taking for anyone who has suffered, or suffers, from any of the above and as a preventative measure for age-related degeneration (please note: before taking any herbs or supplements you should always consult a qualified practitioner).

Did you know that 6 Gingko biloba trees were the only things to survive the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945!Tweet This

They are still thriving to this day!  How’s that for anti-oxidant power!!

When it comes to purchasing supplements, you will get what you pay for – meaning that if you wish to opt for a cheap, off the supermarket shelf brand then you will be getting a supplement that may not be of a therapeutic quality or dose.

It’s always best to consult a health practitioner who understands herbs, can recommend a dose suitable for you and your situation and knows what brands are best!

Have you used Gingko biloba?  I’d love to hear about your experience with this wonder herb!  If not, why not give it a go and reap the benefits…

Yours in health,

Kelly xx
